Obituary


Joyce Ann Blanchard Melancon, 67, a native of Belle River, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017.  Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved the casino, enjoyed cooking for her family, dancing the jitterbug and especially adored spending time with her grandkids where she would spoil them with an endless supply of candy.  She never met a stranger and always helped a friend in need!  She is survived by one daughter, Sandy Melancon Fremin and husband, John; two sons, Randy James Melancon and wife Karen, Corey Lynn Melancon and his partner...

Joyce Ann Blanchard Melancon, 67, a native of Belle River, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017.  Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved the casino, enjoyed cooking for her family, dancing the jitterbug and especially adored spending time with her grandkids where she would spoil them with an endless supply of candy.  She never met a stranger and always helped a friend in need!  She is survived by one daughter, Sandy Melancon Fremin and husband, John; two sons, Randy James Melancon and wife Karen, Corey Lynn Melancon and his partner Kayla, and former wife, Brandy Percle; one brother, Denray Paul Blanchard and wife Patricia; four grandchildren, Randall Lapoint Jr., Amanda Ashlie Rivere, Dylan David Melancon, and Trista Lynn Melancon; three great-grandchildren, Adleigh Grace Melancon, Aria Blakely Melancon, and Karlie Rae Rivere.  Also a special thanks to family friends, Mervin Theriot and his granddaughter Alexis Theriot.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert David Melancon; her father, Harry Joseph Blanchard, her mother, Emelda Ackman Blanchard, grandson, Blake James Melancon, and two brothers, Morris Blanchard and wife, Lynn and Nilton Blanchard and wife Joann.  The family would like to send their appreciation for the care and love by the staff at Morgan City Healthcare and the Hospice of South Louisiana.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial for 11 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part.  Entombment will follow at the Church of God of Prophecy in Belle River.  Father Al Davidson will be officiating.  To offer condolences to the family, please sign the online guestbook at www.oursofhpierrepart.com
